To light push the air control fully in; then pull half out once the fire has taken.

Kitchen Stove

To light, set the primary and secondary airflow controls to maximum for about 20 - 30 minutes when the fire is starting.

When the larger pieces of wood have caught fire properly, you can set the primary and secondary airflow to the desired level. I would have the primary on 30% and Secondary on 50% for normal burning.
